PRP Laser Pre-Treatment Instructions

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the time of your appointment if you wish to use a topical anesthetic to make your procedure more comfortable.

If you have scheduled a procedure for the face, and would like the neck, chest, or any additional areas treated, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance for scheduling purposes. Also, note that Midwest Health Center has a 24-hour cancellation policy and charges a fee of 50% of the service value for appointments not cancelled or rescheduled 24 hours in advance.

Notify us at least 2 weeks in advance as any of the following as it could be relative or absolute contraindication to the treatment:

- You have a history of light-induced seizures
- You are or may be pregnant
- You have a blood disorder that alters the ability of blood to coagulate
- You have a history of keloid and hypertrophic scar formation
- You are undergoing treatment for skin cancer
- You have open lesions in the treatment area
- You have taken isotretinoin, also known as Accutane, within six months of treatment
- You have Herpes I or II within the treatment area
- You are using Tretinoin, e.g. Retin-A, renova, or other prescription exfoliating products
  within the past 2 weeks
- You have any chronic or active medical skin condition (especially psoriasis, eczema,
   scleroderma, herpes, melasma, and vitiligo)
- You currently take any prescription or nonprescription medications, especially
antibiotics such as tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline
- You received chemical peels, fillers, or Botox Cosmetic within the past two weeks

Be advised that there is a risk of hair removal within the treatment area. For this reason, patients with facial hair are asked to shave the treatment area prior to their appointment. It is strongly recommended that you use sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30 and avoid tanning beds and direct sun exposure for two weeks before and after the procedure. We recommend that you fill out Skin Typing Survey to find your Fitzpatrick Skin Type. The IPL Photofacial is not recommended for skin types V and VI.

Chemical Peel Pre-Treatment Instructions

What should be done to prepare for a chemical peel?
• Avoid using self-tanners, masks, scrubs or exfoliating agents for at least 48 hours prior to the
peel.
• Stop using Retin-A or Renova products 48 hours before the peel.
• Do not wax facial hair for 48 hours prior to the peel.
• If you are susceptible to outbreaks of cold sores or fever blisters, be aware that a chemical peel
may increase the chance of an outbreak.

We look forward to seeing you!
